MCU output to resistor. Resistor to base.
Emitter to ground.
Collector to relay coil.
Relay coil to 12v +.
Diode across relay coil, negative (cathode) to positive 12v side, to absorb inductive transient.

Just curious, do you plan on making a PC board for this in the near future?

Dear Mike,

Hope u'll be fine.
i am using atmega88, mcu is programed perfectly hex file came to be 14kb i am getting reset(31) and phone polled (11) codes but after tht it gives code(13) also. i am using Motorola C168 and Holux GPS.

Dear i have few questions tht i am trying to connect it through hyper terminal i am not getting any response through debug pin as well as plz tell me on wht baud rate to connect or if i am missing something. if possible send me the circuit schematic for at mega88 coz so far i knew i introduced a crystal for atmega88 to work properly.
